Michael is an award-winning Toronto-based journalist, author, and playwright.
- During a career spanning more than 40 years, he has held senior editorial positions at Maclean’s magazine —including four years as Washington correspondent — the Globe and Mail, and the Financial Times of Canada.
- He is the author or co-author of seven books, including an oral biography of Mordecai Richler, The Last Honest Man; and the (ghostwritten) autobiography of Anne Murray, All of Me.
- In 1977, he co-founded and edited Canadian Lawyer magazine.
- He holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Manitoba, and a master of arts degree from the University of Toronto.
